Support Service Provider (SSP) Training

What is a SSP? A Support Service Provider (SSP) is a trained professional who guides a person that is deaf-blind, providing visual and environmental information. SSPs empower Deaf-Blind people to live independently, enabling them to do their own mail, banking, shopping and other essential errands.
Pennsylvania Needs SSPs!
Come learn how to work as an SSP with DeafBlind individuals. Must be at least 18-years-old and have appropriate clearances/paperwork submitted prior to the training.
An SSP is trained to support DeafBlind individuals lead a self-determined life.
Participants will learn:
- A variety of communication techniques
- A clear understanding of Do’s & Don’ts, Roles & Responsibilities of a SSP
- Hands-on experience guiding a DeafBlind individual
- Personal experiences from a diverse DeafBlind panel
