DHCC uses Deaf interpreters for specific assignments with hearing interpreters. DHCC has promoted the use of Deaf/hearing teams very successfully, especially in life-altering situations. While Deaf consumers are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf interpreters must be fluent in ASL and English. The Deaf interpreter must also have professional training to learn the process and ethics of interpreting.

Note that the following clearances are required by all DHCC interpreters:
